Implant-Retained Dentures

Teeth that stay where you put them.

Harborview Dental Care in Palm Harbor offers implant-retained dentures, a denture that snaps onto two to four titanium implants instead of resting on your gums. It will not slip or click while you eat or speak. Treatment is staged over three to five visits across several months.

What To Expect

Your options, plainly put.

It is a denture that locks onto implants instead of sitting loose on the gum. Two to four titanium posts go into the jaw, and the denture snaps down onto them. You still take it out to clean it. But while it is in, it stays in. That is the part most patients notice first: it will not slip or click when you are eating or talking.

Between two and four, depending on the jaw and the bone that is there to work with. Dr. Snyder goes over the number with you at the consultation, which is free and takes about thirty minutes. No treatment happens that day, so you can go home and think about it without anyone standing over you.

Plan on three to five visits spread over several months. Most of that time is not spent in a chair. It is healing time. A titanium post has to bond with the bone around it before it can carry a denture, and that is not something worth rushing. Once the implants have taken hold, the denture is fitted and snapped into place.

You are numb before anything starts, and we check it twice before we begin. Numbness lasts two to four hours after most visits, so eat carefully until it wears off.

Acrylic for the denture, titanium for the implants underneath. Looked after well, the denture lasts fifteen years or more, and the implants holding it are the same posts we use for single-tooth work, which run twenty years and often longer. Read more on the dental implants page.

The implant-retained denture is the denture option we list here, so we are not going to pretend on a web page that we know the right answer for a mouth we have not seen. If you are asking about a conventional full or partial denture, or you already wear one and want to know whether it can be made to snap onto implants, call the office at (727) 502-6667 and we will talk through which option fits. You can also reach us through the contact page.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

We accept most PPO plans and select Medicare plans. We are not contracted with HMO or Medicaid programs. Benefits are verified before treatment starts, so you know where you stand before any work begins. The details are on the accepted insurances page.

Implant work is quoted case by case, and a number posted on a page would be wrong for most people who read it. The free consultation is where you get a real figure for your mouth, with your benefits already checked. If you would rather spread it out, we work with Cherry and CareCredit and offer monthly payment plans. See finance plans. Patients without insurance can also look at the Smile Club membership.

Yes. The implants, the gum tissue around them, and the fit of the denture all need looking at on a schedule. Regular preventive visits are how a loose fitting or an irritated spot gets caught while it is still a small thing.

Then we save them. A denture is for a jaw that has lost most or all of its teeth, and it is not the first answer when a tooth still has life in it. A crown, a root canal, a bridge, or a single implant is often the better route, and those live on the restorative dentistry page. Dr. Snyder will tell you which side of that line you are on rather than sell you the bigger plan.

That is the whole point of the design. Because the denture snaps onto implants rather than resting on the gum, it will not slip or click while you eat or speak. Give yourself a little practice time with anything very hard or very sticky, the way you would with any new appliance.

We are at 34669 US Hwy 19 N in Palm Harbor, open Monday to Friday, 8AM to 4PM, with Saturdays by appointment. The practice has been open here since 2022. Book online any time, or call and we will find you a slot. Filling out the patient forms ahead of time gets the paperwork out of the way before you arrive, and there is more about Dr. Snyder and the office on the about page.
